The reality for grant recipients of these disbursement methods has not been documented on a rigorous basis. Accordingly FinMark Trust has commissioned research aimed at documenting the experience of recipients, with a view to providing insights into the future design of grant disbursements. The objectives of the research are to:
- Understand the different payment service models.
- Understand the experience of social grant recipients in rural, urban and peri-urban settlement types.
- Understand the role of the various role players in each of the disbursement models.
- Document the infrastructure available to recipients in receiving and making payments.
- Provide insight on how recipients use this infrastructure.
- Understand the costs to beneficiaries in each case.
- Identify mechanisms and processes that could enhance the process for beneficiaries.
